Arthur Cary, club chairman of the South Coast Fly Anglers reports that the torrential rain they had about 3 weeks ago put paid to all estuary and rock and surf fishing as the estuaries and sea became very discoloured and is only clearing now so at the moment probably the only productive fishing will be bait and lures for salmon/kob. However, the estuaries are clearing fast and most smaller ones will be fishable now.
The salt outing to the Umzimkulu mouth scheduled for the 12th November had to be cancelled and even the bass outing the following week was also cancelled due to discoloured water. Fortunately, the team which went up to Mountain Lake in Matatiele had some good trout fishing with a couple of big browns in the catch.
Apparently, a bass outing will be arranged for December which will be the last outing of the year. The December report will include all the club outings for the first few months of 2018.
